Motorsport and BITS Pilani Dubai Campus became synonymous with one another during the fall of 2021 when an idea was ignited towards building something remarkable from scratch, thus forming the team “Al Fursan” of BITS Dubai Motorsports Club in association with M.A.H.Y Khoory & Co. LLC.
The team is home to a multi-disciplinary group of engineering students consisting of 4 final-year students: Shobal Philip Roy, Vaishnavi Manoj, Abilash Sadanandan & Nigel Davis, 4 third-year students: Adhav Kumaravel, Anandhu Sasi Kumar, Surya Radhakrishnan & Ashutosh Rana, 3 second-year students: Marshal Savio Nunes, Mohammed Aman & Vishnu Hari, and finally 2 first-year freshmen: Sanjay Saravanan & Anirudh Jerish.

International Conference on Recent Advances in Fluid and Thermal Sciences (iCRAFT2018)
BITS Pilani, Dubai campus invited delegates from academia and industry to be a part of two days international conference on Recent Advances in Fluid and Thermal Sciences (iCRAFT 2018), which started from 5th December at their Dubai Campus and ended on 7th December 2018. Over the course of 3 days, 5 Speakers of Eminence marked their presence, together with the presentation of 75 technical papers and 23 Posters from a participation of 115 Delegates of 45 prestigious universities and institutions of USA, UAE, India, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa.The conference aimed to bring together the leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results about all aspects of Mechanical Engineering. It also provides the premier interdisciplinary forum for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns, practical challenges encountered and the solution adopted in the field of Mechanical Engineering. The Conference covered various topics of interest including Bluff Body and High-speed Flows, Microscale Transport, Hydraulics and Turbomachinery, Conduction and Convection, Renewable Energy, Alternate Fuels and Sustainability.
At the Inauguration, a warm welcome was extended to the participants by the Convener, Dr. Shashank Khurana. Prof. Souvik Bhattacharyya, Vice Chancellor, BITS Pilani addressed the forum with his motivating words, highlighted the importance of bringing together academia and industry, and wished them all great knowledge sharing experience in the workshop. The Chief Guest were then introduced to the Forum by Dr. M.V.N. Sankaram (Organizing Secretary). The inaugural address speech was given by Chief Guest, Dr. Shibu Davies, from TÜV Middle East, Member of TÜV Nord Group, UAE who spoke about the Need for Competent Personnel & Robust Systems in GCC, followed by the release of the Abstract Book by him. The Closing ceremony began with prize ceremony for the best papers and best posters, and concluded with a Vote of Thanks given by Head of the Department Prof. R Karthikeyan.
IMMT 2017
International Conference on Recent Advances on Materials and Manufacturing Technologies (IMMT 2017) at BITS Pilani Dubai Campus
BITS Pilani, Dubai campus, Department of Mechanical Engineering, organized an International conference on Recent Advances in Materials & Manufacturing Technologies (IMMT) 2017 on 28th and 29th November 2017. Over 130 participants from academics and research background from over 40 universities including the IITs in India , NUS Singapore, Masdar UAE and many more prestigious universities participated and presented their research papers.
At the Inauguration, a warm welcome was extended to the participants by the Convener, Dr. Vincent Shantha Kumar. Prof. Souvik Bhattacharyya, Vice Chancellor , BITS Pilani addressed the forum with his motivating words and wished them all great knowledge sharing experience in the conference. “It’s a privilege to host such an event at BITS Pilani Dubai campus, and it will indeed open new ventures of technical advancement in Mechanical Engineering”, said Dr. R.N Saha, Director , BITS Pilani Dubai Campus. The Guests were then introduced to the forum by Dr. M.V.N. Sankaram, HOD Mechanical Department.
The inaugural address speech was given by Chief Guest, Dr. Eesa Mohammed Bastaki, President, University of Dubai who spoke about the significance and outcomes of the prominent technical revolutions in history. It was followed by the release of the Abstract Book by Guests of Honour, Mr. Mohammed Abdullah, Managing Director, DIAC and Mr. M. P. Sharma, President, Techmart, Dubai. The Inauguration ceremony was concluded with a Vote of Thanks given by Prof. R. Karthikeyan (Co-Convener).
Optimization Workshop 2017
Department of Mechanical Engineering organised Two-Days Workshop on “
Applications of Decision Making Methods and Optimization Techniques” during 17-18
November 2017. Prof R V Rao coordinated this workshop and totally there were 34
participants from various local Industries and universities i.e., DEWA, RTA, Heriot Watt
niversity, University of Sharjah, King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Faculty
and research scholars from all departments also actively participated in this workshop.
