About the Faculty
Dr. Sushila Shekhawat is presently working as a Professor of Communication and English Studies in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at BITS, Pilani, Pilani Campus for the last twenty years. She has completed her doctoral degree in Film Studies at BITS, Pilani. Her research interests include Film studies, Ecocriticism, Indigenous Cultures, Media studies, etc. She has received grants for project works in the area of Cinema and its Interdisciplinary aspects from UGC and other funding agencies. She has published several research papers in International and National Journals and has a book on Media, Culture and Ethics to her credit. Her ongoing projects include an article accepted for publication in the journal Feminist Media Studies, an edited book on Desertscapes for Routledge, and a book chapter in Palimpsests of Identity and Memory (to be published as part of the South Asian Literature in Focus book series, Routledge).
At BITS she has handled various responsibilities like Nucleus Member of Publications and Media Relations Unit, Academic and Counseling Board Member, Doctoral Advisory Committee member for PhD scholars, Doctoral Research Committee Member, Member of Department Committee on Academics, Senate Member since August 2018, Member of the Library committee from 2005 to 2006 and in 2017, Member of BITSCAN - a semester Magazine from 2003 to 2013 and an Editor of BITScan from 2015 to 2021. Editor for University wide Newsletter for all the four campuses from its inception in 2018 to 2020.
