Tanmaya Mahapatra is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Information Systems, BITS Pilani. Before this, he was working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Technical University of Munich, Munich. His research interests include model-driven software development for Big Data systems, programming tools for data analytics and a bit in data-driven Software Engineering. 

Tanmaya completed his masters in Software Systems Engineering from Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule (RWTH), Aachen in 2015. He worked as a Research Associate at the Department of Software and Systems Engineering, headed by Prof. Manfred Broy, from 2016 to 2019. After that, he worked in the Institute of Medical Informatics, Statistics and Epidemiology (IMeDIS), Department of Medicine, Technical University of Munich headed by Prof. Klaus A. Kuhn from 2019 – 2020. 

He wrote his doctoral dissertation between 2017 and 2019 under the supervision of PD Dr. rer. nat. Christian Prehofer. The thesis was examined by Prof. Florian Matthes and  Prof. Joerg Ott.
