Dr. Surojit Pande joined Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani on 1st March, 2012 as Assistant Professor and currently he his Professor of Chemistry at BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus.
Dr. Pande did his Ph. D. in Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. During Ph. D. he worked on metal and metal oxide nanoparticles and their application in catalysis and surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy. Before joining BITS, Dr. Pande was a postdoctoral fellow in the Crooks research group at The University of Texas at Austin with research interests in homogeneous catalysis using dendrimer-encapsulated nanoparticles.
Surojit's research group developed different mono- and bimetallic
nanoparticles using bottom-up approaches for catalysis, photocatalysis, and electrocatalytic overall water
splitting reaction. Our group also developed nanoworms of Ni/Ni(OH)2/NiOOH
via electrodeposition technique for hydrogen evolution. We have checked the overall water splitting reaction using W0.1Ni0.9(OH)2/NiOOH electrode as an anode and cathode and reported assembled W0.1Ni0.9(OH)2/NiOOH (+) || W0.1Ni0.9(OH)2/NiOOH (-) cells. In the last couple of years, we have extensively focused on cation and anion
doping in a Ni-based system for an overall water splitting reaction. We have also initiated solar light-driven water electrolysis to
generate green hydrogen and oxygen (coupled PV-EC system). We are always looking for a motivated and enthusiastic student for Ph.D. position, specially, JRF qualified candidate's are always welcome in our group.
